Class E (5/6)
SATS UPDATE!
Please remember that during the first half of the summer term the year 6 children will be sitting their Key Stage 2 SATs tests.
These will commence on May 14th and finish on May 17th. It is imperative that you do not take any holiday during this week and in the weeks prior to the tests.
If you have any concerns or queries about the tests then please come and see Mrs. Mills or Mr. Harris ASAP.
Thank you!
As the Class C blog has been so successful with both students and parents we have decided to create our own class blog. This blog will be updated more regularly than the class page and will include links to useful websites for the children.
Here is the link…. http://classecolyton.primaryblogger.co.uk/ feel free to check it out but remember we are still in the early stages! Thank you, Mrs Mills
Autumn Term 2011
Welcome to the Class E Page!
This has been a busy half term from year 6 going off to Residential to our Harvest service in St. Andrew’s Church.
Over this half term we have been studying how Britain has changed since 1939. So far we have only got as far as the 1950′s! Next term we will be looking at the 1960′s and 70′s.
The children produced some excellent homework about changes in the home in these times. Here are some examples;
In literacy the children studied Martin Luther King, looking at his life and some of his greatest achievements. They then went on to look at the lives of Elvis and Muhammad Ali and produced biographies about these legends.
In their science lessons the children studied different materials and how they can be separated. They created their own salt crystals through the process of evaporation!
The class learned the Harvest Rock and Roll song for the Harvest festival at the church and Martha played the piano to accompany them! The class are now well into Rock ‘n’ Roll music and often request some Elvis or Jive music to listen to while they are working. They have also been learning how to jive dance in PE.
Our art lessons have been exciting too. The class looked at Pop-Art from the 1950′s and imitated some of the work of Andy Warhol by creating multi-coloured images of themselves! See if you can guess who they are;
Next term proves to be equally exciting. We have RE week to look forward to where we will be studying the religion of Islam. We also will be looking in depth at the 1960′s and 70′s and we will be leading up to Christmas. Of course none of this will be as exciting as our Fashion Show on November 24th!
