Class B (Year 1/2)
For the last half term class B were looking and learning about the Celts and what it was like to live at that time. They took part in lots of different activities such as building roundhouses, designing torcs and painting their faces with symmetrical patterns, just like the Celts.
We all worked in groups to design and make a roundhouse.
Inside the roundhouses Celts placed the fire in the middle so that it heated the whole room. At the edge of this house is a weaving loom and Celtic beds. Their beds were on the floor and made up of animal skins.
We tried some weaving patterns as the Celts would have had to to make their clothes in a simular way.
We made some Celtic torcs. The Celts liked symmetical patterns and so we did our best to copy this in our designs.
One of the last activities that we did was facepainting. The Celts liked to decorate their faces with swirls of pattern and again liked symmetry in their design. We tried to decorate our faces to match their ideas.
